Protected for more than 50 years, the ecological environment in Chun’An is leading in Zhejiang Province. On December 8, Chun’an County formally issued the “Regulations on the Thousand Island Lake Environment”, which had been discussed for more than a year and which had been considered the most stringent rural standards. This is the first county-level environment norm.

According to the regulations, the water quality of the Thousand Island Lake at the three state-supervised monitoring sections has to be of the first class; that at the rural-urban interface monitoring sections has to be class II or above; the proportion of the first class water among the 84 rivers has increased steadily year by year; no sewage outfall is allowed in the Lake area nor in the scenic spots—all sewage is collected ashore into the central treatment plant; industrial enterprises have to be connected into the municipal sewage pipe network; no one is allowed to set its own sewage outfall. At the same time, a set of detailed technical indicators have been given for the water quality of the county’s three central treatment plants.
In addition, the Thousand Island Lake norm has also put forward the corresponding requirements for the air quality of the Thousand Lake County and the industrial area.
